CVD (Cumulative Volume Delta): who is hitting the book
Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) is the running total of market buy volume minus market sell volume. A rising CVD means aggressive buyers are lifting offers; a falling CVD means sellers are hitting bids. On SIMMENT a positive CVD reads BUY PRESSURE and a negative one SELL PRESSURE, and it earns one vote in the setup score.
Delta versus price
Every trade has an aggressor. If it lifts the ask it counts as buy volume, if it hits the bid as sell volume. CVD keeps the running difference. The signal is in divergence: price flat while CVD climbs means buyers are being absorbed by passive sellers, which often precedes a break. Price rising while CVD falls means the rally is short covering or thin.
Reading the dashboard tile
The CVD tile shows the recent delta in base units with a BUY PRESSURE, SELL PRESSURE or NEUTRAL label. Big numbers alone mean little; compare the sign with what price is doing. Buy pressure into resistance that fails to break it is a warning, not a confirmation.
How the SIMMENT desk uses CVD
CVD is an optional extra in the setup score: positive adds one buy vote, negative one sell vote. It is also one of the inputs the Market Pulse commentary looks at when a sharp move is flagged.
Quick answers
Where does SIMMENT get CVD?
From Binance spot candles, which carry the volume bought by aggressors (taker-buy volume) for every bar. CVD is the running sum of taker-buy minus taker-sell volume over the bars loaded on the chart. When the fallback venue has no aggressor split the tile shows a dash rather than a guess.
