Whale tape: reading large public prints
SIMMENT's whale tape is a live list of large public prints: Hyperliquid perpetual positions above $250k and Binance spot taker trades above the desk floors. Each line shows the address or venue, side, size in USD and price. A big print is information about who is active, not a trade signal; the tape is most useful when size shows up at a level that matters.
What you are looking at
On Hyperliquid every position is public, so the tape can show an address opening or closing a $50M ETH short. On Binance spot the tape shows aggressive taker buys and sells above a size floor. Neither feed requires a paid API; both are public data.
How to read it without fooling yourself
Size chases and size gets stopped too. Watch for clusters: several large buys as price holds support, or repeated large short opens into resistance. Filter to the chart pair ("pair only") to reduce noise. A single $20M print in either direction proves nothing on its own.
How the SIMMENT desk uses it
The tape is a study panel. It does not feed any gauge and does not vote in the setup score.
Quick answers
Is the whale tape real-time?
Hyperliquid refreshes every 12 seconds and Binance every 30 seconds on the app; the web tape updates continuously.
